To resolve this problem, restart your computer in Safe Mode with Networking and reinstall Norton.
After the computer is powered on or restarted (usually after you hear your computer beep), tap the F8 key in 1-second intervals.
On the Choose an option screen, click the Troubleshoot button.
On the Troubleshoot screen, click the Advanced Options button.
On the Advanced Options screen, click the Startup Settings option. In Windows 8, this option is labeled Windows Startup Settings instead.
Under Startup Settings, select Restart button.
Press the 5 key for Safe Mode with Networking.
After the computer is powered on or restarted (usually after you hear your computer beep), tap the F8 key in 1-second intervals.
In the Advanced Boot Options menu appear, use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode With Networking.
Click Enter to start Windows in Safe Mode with Networking.
If you have Norton Family installed, uninstall it before you run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.
Download the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.
Save the file to the Windows desktop. On some browsers, the file is automatically saved to its default location.
To open the Downloads window in your browser, press the Ctrl + J key.
Double-click the NRnR icon.
Read the license agreement, and click Agree.
Click Advanced Options.
Click Remove Only.
Click Remove.
Click Restart Now.
After the computer restarts, follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Norton.
