Applicable for: Windows, Mac
One of the most common reasons for slow web browsing is a slow internet connection. First, run speed tests to ensure that you have a fast internet connection.
It is also important to identify if the overall browsing experience is slow or is it just with a particular website. If you are experiencing issues with a particular website, it is more likely that the issue is with the website and not the browser.
Some of the other common causes of the problem with slow web browsing or web browser taking a long time start could be:
Cluttered temporary Internet files
Malware infection
Unwanted browser add-ons or extensions
Weak WiFi signal
Multiple browser sessions
Multiple security products
Here are some tips and best practices to improve your browsing experience:
Start your browser.
Depending on your browser, do one of the following:
For Microsoft Edge: On the top-right corner, click Settings and more, and then click Extensions.
Select the add-ons one at a time and disable them.
If the Internet speeds up after disabling a particular add-on, then keep it disabled.
Open your Norton device security product.
If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.
Double-click Performance, and then click File Cleanup.
After the temporary files are removed, click Close.
Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
Type in the following text, and then press Enter.
appwiz.cpl
