Error: (8921,250) "Unable to connect to the Norton LiveUpdate server. Please check your Internet connection"

These steps are for the current version of Norton products.

STEP 1

Restart the computer

  1. Exit all programs.

  2. Restart the computer.

STEP 2

Run LiveUpdate

  1. Open your Norton device security product.

    If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.

  2. In the Norton product main window, double-click Security, and then click LiveUpdate.

  3. When Norton LiveUpdate is finished, click OK.

  4. Run LiveUpdate until you see the message, "Your Norton product has the latest protection updates."

  5. Exit all programs, and restart the computer.

STEP 3

Check the Internet connectivity

  1. Start your web browser.

  2. Try to connect to the following website:

    https://www.nortonlifelock.com

  3. Depending on your situation, do one of the following:

Configure LiveUpdate proxy settings

  1. Open your Norton device security product.

    If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. In the Settings window, click Administrative Settings.

  4. Under Administrative Settings, next to Network Proxy Settings, click Configure.

  5. In the Network Proxy Settings window, under Proxy Settings, select Use a proxy server for HTTP connections.

  6. Type the address and port of the proxy server.

  7. If authentication is required for the proxy, check I need authorization to connect through my firewall or proxy server, and then type the user name and password.

  8. Click Apply and then click OK.

  9. Click Close.

  10. Run LiveUpdate again.
