Error: "Server error: Server error occurred. Please try again." when signing into Norton VPN

When you sign in to Norton VPN, you may see one of the following error messages(sometimes with a different number):

  • Error: Server Error: Server error Occurred...". Please try again later. (1)

  • Error: Server Error: Server error Occurred...". Please try again later. (1000)

  • Error: Server Error: Server error Occurred...". Please try again later. (5000)

To fix this problem, change your network connection region on the Norton VPN app.

Change network connection

Connect to different VPN region manually and try to access the website. To change the VPN region, follow the steps below:

Windows

To know the version number of your Norton application, open Norton and navigate to Settings. 
If you are using Norton VPN Standard (version 6.x and below), you need to download and install the latest version of Norton VPN. To know more, read Download and install Norton VPN.

Depending on your product, choose one of the following:

Norton VPN (version 24.x and above)

  1. Open Norton VPN on your desktop.

  2. On the Norton dashboard, do one of the following, depending on your VPN plan:

    • Norton VPN Standard: Click Connection > Change Location, then select a different country or city from the drop-down list.

    • Norton VPN Plus/Ultimate: Select a different country or city from the drop-down list.

      You can also use the search box to find a country or city to connect.

      The Recent section lists the most recent VPN regions you have connected to.

To choose a specific city, click the drop-down list present next to the country.

Norton 360

Norton 360 (version 24.x and above)

  1. Open Norton 360.

  2. On the Norton dashboard, click Privacy on the left side of the window.

  3. In the Privacy window, under Secure VPN, click Open.

  4. In the Secure VPN window, under the Connection tab, click Change Location.

  5. In the Change VPN location window, select a different country from the drop-down list.

Mac

To know the version number of your Norton application, open Norton and navigate to Settings. 
If you are using Norton VPN (version 2.x and below), you need to download and install the latest version of Norton VPN. To know more, read Download and Install Norton device product on Mac.

Depending on your product, choose one of the following:

Norton VPN (version 24.x and above)

  1. Open Norton VPN on your desktop.

  2. On the Norton dashboard, do one of the following, depending on your VPN plan:

    • Norton VPN Standard: Click Connection > Change Location, then select a different country or city from the drop-down list.

    • Norton VPN Plus/Ultimate: Select a different country or city from the drop-down list.

      You can also use the search box to find a country or city to connect.

      The Recent section lists the most recent VPN regions you have connected to.

Norton 360 (version 24.x and above)

  1. Open Norton 360.

  2. On the Norton dashboard, click Privacy on the left side of the window.

  3. In the Privacy window, under Secure VPN, click Open.

  4. In the Secure VPN window, under the Connection tab, click Change Location.

  5. In the Change VPN location window, select a different country from the drop-down list.

Android

To know the version number of your Norton product, open the Norton app and tap the Menu icon > Settings > About.

Depending on your product, choose one of the following:

Norton VPN (version 4.x and above)

This applies to Norton VPN Standard, Norton VPN Plus, and Norton VPN Ultimate users.
  1. Launch Norton VPN.

  2. On the Norton VPN screen, tap the drop-down present at the bottom of the screen.

  3. On the Change VPN Location screen, select a different country or city from the drop-down list.

    You can also use the search box to find a country or city to connect.

To connect to a specific city, tap the three dots next to the country.

Norton 360 (version 5.x and above)

  1. Launch Norton 360.

  2. At the bottom of the main screen, tap Menu, then tap VPN.

  3. Tap the drop-down list at the bottom of the screen, then select a different country from the list.

iOS

To know the version number of your Norton product, open the Norton app and tap the Menu icon > About.

Depending on your product, choose one of the following:

Norton VPN (version 4.x and above)

This applies to Norton VPN Standard, Norton VPN Plus, and Norton VPN Ultimate users.
  1. Launch Norton VPN.

  1. Launch Norton 360.

  2. At the bottom of the main screen, tap Menu, then tap VPN.
  3. Tap the drop-down list at the bottom of the screen, then select a different country from the list.

If the issue persists, depending on your device, do one of the following:

Android

  1. Exit Norton VPN from your device.

  2. Uninstall Norton VPN.

  3. Restart your Android device.

  4. Open and sign in to Norton VPN.

iOS

  1. Exit Norton VPN from your device.

  2. Uninstall Norton VPN.

  3. Restart your iOS device.

  4. Open and sign in to Norton VPN.
