You can delete files and folder in a backup set if they are no longer needed. You can delete files and folders from your Cloud Backup set or local backup sets.
Sometimes, a back-end service outage or server maintenance can stop you from deleting your backup data. In such cases, try deleting after some time. To identify if there is a service outage, check the Norton Service Status page.
When a file is deleted from a backup set, it automatically gets excluded from future backups. In case you want to back up the file again, you will have to add the file manually to your backup set.
Deleting a backup set is particularly helpful if you want to free some space on your Secure Cloud Storage or your local storage device.
Open your Norton device security product.
On the left pane, click Security.
In the Security dashboard, in the Cloud Backup tile, click Open.
In the Cloud Backup window, select your backup location.
Your options are:
Cloud Backup
Local backups
Click Manage/Manage Files next to the backup set from which you want to delete the files or folders.
In the window that appears, on the Files tab, select the files or folders that you want to remove.
Click the icon at the bottom-right corner.
From the menu that appears, click Remove from backup.
In the confirmation window, click Remove and exclude.
Click OK and then click Done.
Open your Norton device security product.
On the left pane, click Security.
In the Security dashboard, in the Cloud Backup tile, click Open.
In the Cloud Backup window, select your backup location.
Your options are:
Cloud Backup
Local backups
Click Manage next to the backup set that you want to delete.
In the window that appears, click the Settings tab.
Under Delete Backup, click Delete.
In the confirmation window, click Delete Backup.
Before you delete a backup set from your cloud backup, we recommend that you keep the Network Cost Awareness setting to No Limit. For more information, go to Defining the Internet usage of your Norton product.
Open your Norton device security product.
In the My Norton dashboard, next to Cloud Backup, click the drop-down arrow and select Manage Backup Sets.
In the Backup Settings window, in the Backup Set drop-down list, select the backup set that you want to delete.
Click Delete.
In the confirmation window, click Yes.
Sign in to your account.
In the My Norton page, under Cloud Backup, click View Backup Sets.
You get to view the existing backup sets that are in use.
To delete a backup set, click the trash icon of the backup set that you want to delete.
In the Delete Backup Set confirmation window, click Delete > Close.
