Activate online backup in your Norton product

Symantec provides 25 GB of cloud storage for each Norton product key. You can share the cloud storage space that is allocated to you using your Norton account among your computers. For example, you have two computers having Norton product installed on them and registered with the same Norton account. You can share the storage space among your two computers. You use 10 GB of cloud storage space for your first computer. When you activate the cloud storage for your second computer using the same Norton account, that computer can use the remaining 15 GB of space.

The cloud storage space differs based on the product that you use.

Your product needs to be activated to use the online backup feature. The first time you configure online backup, your Norton product connects to your Norton account and requests that you sign in to the account. The Norton product retains your account information so you do not have to sign in again.

To use online backup, you must set the Network Cost Awareness option in the Firewall Settings window to No Limit.

For more information, go to Defining the Internet usage of your Norton product

After you activate online backup, you can configure your backup set and backup your files to the Secure Cloud Storage location.

Your Norton product uses your Norton account to keep track of the following:

  • The computers that you back up to cloud storage

  • The amount of cloud storage space that is available to you

Activate online backup

  1. In the Norton product main window, double-click Backup, and then click Backup Sets.

  2. On the Where tab, select Secure Cloud Storage, and click the online backup activation link.
