FAQ: Norton subscription status

A valid subscription ensures that you are protected from cyberthreats and cybercrimes in today's digital world. The following FAQ may answer your queries that are related to Norton subscription.

Why do I continue to see renewal alerts even after purchase?

If you have already purchased a new subscription but continue to receive alerts to renew, you need to ensure that you download and install the newly purchased product. For detailed instructions, see Fix incorrect subscription days displayed in Norton.

Why are the remaining days in my old subscription not added to the new one?

Make sure, you do not use a different product key. If you have purchased a renewal, the remaining subscription days should get automatically added to the product. If you use a different product key, you get only the days associated with that key.

I have not canceled my subscription. Why do I still see the subscription cancellation message?

If you have resolved your subscription issues and still continue to see the cancellation message, then contact your service provider to resolve the issue.

How did my subscription get canceled?

Your subscription for Norton may get canceled:
  • If you discontinue the subscriptions with your service provider - You get Norton as a subscription from your service provider. So, your subscription gets canceled if you discontinue the subscription with your service provider. You cannot access any of the product features, and your device is vulnerable to viruses and risks.

  • If you transfer the license to other device (single seat) - If you transfer a license, the device from which the license is removed is no longer protected.

  • If your service provider cancels your subscription - Your service provider may cancel your subscription due to billing or other issues. Your subscription should automatically regain once these issues are resolved.

Why am I seeing Check subscription or Check service link instead of remaining days?

If your Norton product has not contacted the Norton server for 30 or more days, you may see this link instead of remaining days. You can click the Check Subscription or Check Service link to sync your product with the Norton server. You should see the remaining days after successful sync.

Why is the subscription status not showing remaining days anymore?

If you are enrolled for Auto-Renewal, your subscription status is shown as Active on your Norton product main window. But, you can check the remaining days left with your subscription by clicking Help > Subscription Status.
If you have any other issues, please visit Member Services and Support website to resolve them.

How do I know if my product or license is registered to Norton account?

Your product or license is automatically registered when you purchase from the Norton Online Store or you activate the product.
Your product or license may not be registered to your account if:
  • You activate your product for the first time after you purchase from a retail store or a third-party website.

  • Your product came preinstalled on your computer and was not activated.
