LiveUpdate keeps your Norton protection up to date and helps safeguard your device from evolving cybersecurity threats.
Open your Norton device security product.
On the left pane, click Security.
In the Security dashboard, in the LiveUpdate tile, click Open.
Click Check Now.
When Norton LiveUpdate finishes, click Done.
Run LiveUpdate until you see the message "Virus definitions are updated".
Exit all programs and restart your Mac.
Open your Norton device security product.
On the left pane, click Security.
In the Security dashboard, in the LiveUpdate tile, click Open.
In the Norton LiveUpdate window, you can view the last updated date.
If the date is older than a day or two, click Update Now/Check Now.
A back-end service outage can stop LiveUpdate. To identify if there is a service outage, check the Norton Service Status page. In such cases, try running LiveUpdate after some time.
Check for the following easily fixable issues that often cause LiveUpdate problems:
Your computer is not connected to the Internet.
LiveUpdate running the first time after installation usually takes more time to complete.
Your computer has insufficient disk space.
Your computer's date and time are not correct.
Norton Firewall is not set to allow traffic.
Your parental application settings block the connection.
Your network proxy settings are not set up correctly.
