Screen reader software does not recognize Norton

This problem occurs when there is a privilege problem between the screen reader software and Norton.

Change the privilege settings

  1. Depending on your version of Windows, do one of the following to open the command prompt with administrator rights.

    • On Windows 11/10/8: Press the Windows + X keys and then click Command Prompt (Admin).

    • On Windows 7: Click Start, and click All Programs > Accessories. Right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator.

  2. In the Administrator Command Prompt window, type in the following text, and press Enter.

    icacls screen_reader.exe /setintegritylevel M

    Replace screen_reader with the name of your screen reader software. Supported application for Norton Screen Reader is Windows Narrator.
