Fixing autofill problems in Norton Password Manager for Android

With the release of Chrome 142.0.7444.21 for Android, Google has introduced a new permission model for third-party autofill services. This change affects how password managers and other autofill apps integrate with the Chrome browser.

To ensure seamless autofill functionality, users must now grant two distinct permissions: Android Autofill Permission and Chrome Autofill Permission.

This article explains how to enable Autofill using another service in Chrome, and change your preferred service to Norton Password Manager if Autofill does not work after setup.

Enable Autofill using another service in Chrome

Enabling Autofill using another service in Chrome allows it to delegate autofill tasks, such as passwords, addresses, and payment information, to third-party apps that support Android's native autofill framework.

To enable Autofill using another service in Chrome, follow the steps below:

  1. Open Chrome on your Android device.
  2. Tap the menu (the three dots) in the top-right corner and go to Settings.
  3. Scroll down and tap Autofill Services.
  4. Select Autofill using another service.

If AutoFill Services is disabled, tap To set your preferred autofill, first add the service in Android settings, and follow the on-screen instructions to enable it.

  5. Choose your preferred autofill app (e.g., Norton Password Manager).
  6. Tap Restart Chrome to apply the change.
