Your password may be compromised if your password is found in large lists of known user account passwords. These lists are built from the history of hackers maliciously accessing various websites and disclosing their internal account information. Cybercriminals may look for accounts that use compromised passwords in order to take them over or extract valuable information. Hence you should change compromised passwords immediately.
Norton Password Manager queries Have I Been Pwned to detect the compromised password by sending the first five characters of password hash. You can allow Norton Password Manager to change the password of a website or ignore the notification.
Norton Password Manager detects a compromised password for a website, if it is supported by Autochange Password, and sends a Fix Now notification. Click Fix Now to take you through the Autochange Password flow.
When the Autochange Password is successful, you receive the Your password's been changed successfully extension page.
If Norton Password Manager vault is configured and you have signed into the vault, you can save the new password by clicking Save To Norton Password Manager
In the Welcome to Norton window, enter the email address and click Continue.
If you have a Norton Account, your new password is saved in your Norton Password Manager vault.
If you do not have a Norton Account, a new Norton Account will be automatically created and you will be taken to the Create your vault window. Enter the password for the new vault to complete setting up the new Norton Password Manager window.
