Setting up Online Account Cleaner with Privacy Monitor Assistant
Online Account Cleaner helps reduce your digital footprint by identifying and managing old, forgotten, or unwanted online accounts linked to your email address. It scans your inbox to detect account sign-up patterns and lets you take action to protect your personal information.
Google has changed its policies for applications listed under the "email reporting and monitoring" categories. To protect your account, you will need to renew Gmail access every six months.
In your Gmail Settings, under Protected Email Accounts, you will see a "Renew Permissions" tab to complete the process.
Set up Online Account Cleaner

Sign in to your Norton account.

Go to the Privacy Monitor tile and click View Results.

In the Online Account Cleaner tab, click Sign In and follow the instructions.
Grant Gmail access
- On the Allow access for Norton page, click Sign in with Google.

Choose your email address to sync with Privacy Monitor Assistant.

On the Sign in to Privacy Monitor Assistant page, click Continue.

To grant access to Privacy Monitor Assistant, tick the box next to Read, compose, and send emails from your Gmail account, then click Continue.
Connect other email providers
Different email providers require different setup procedures to enable your email account to work with Online Account Cleaner. Some email providers provide instructions on their support pages, which are linked in the table below. If your email provider is not listed below, you can visit their support page or follow the on-screen instructions to set up your email account.

For some email providers, an app-specific password is required. This can be configured from the email application. The app-specific password is different than your primary email account password.
If you need help creating a password, click Create an app-specific password and follow the onscreen instructions.
For some email providers, you need to check the settings in your email application.
Remove an email account from Online Account Cleaner
To stop Online Account Cleaner from monitoring an email account:
- Sign in to your Norton account.

Go to the Privacy Monitor tile and click View Results.
- In the top left corner, click on the Settings tab.

You will see a second option, "Remove account from Online Account Cleaner", click on "Remove Account".
- Click Confirm on the pop-up that appears.
Your email address will be removed.
