Learn more about configuring Norton device security advanced settings on Mac

The default device security settings provide comprehensive protection for your computer. You do not need to change the settings unless there is a specific need.

If you want to adjust the settings, you can access most of the features from the Settings window. You can use the slider to turn on or turn off a feature. You can change the product's settings to fit your work environment.

Features

General Settings

  • Show Norton icon in menu bar

    Enable or disable the slider to include or exclude the Norton icon in menu bar.

  • Open Norton when my computer starts up

    Enable or disable the slider to launch Norton when you boot up your Mac.

Notifications

  • Disable notifications when in Focus mode

    Enable this option to stop your Norton product from sending alert messages and suspend background tasks in focus mode.

  • Disable notifications when in full screen mode

    Enable this option to stop your Norton product sending alert messages and suspend background tasks when you perform important tasks, watch movies, or play games in full-screen mode.

Privacy

  • Norton Community Watch

    Enable this option to allow users to help improve the identification and reduce the time to deliver protection against new security threats. The program collects selected security and application data and submits the data to Norton for analysis to identify new threats and their sources.

  • Share app-usage data

    Helps check Norton support pages for help using the application.

  • Related offers

    Enable this option to receive offers for related products and services.
