Norton Money - FAQs

Applicable for: Android;Mac;Windows;iOS

What is Norton Money?

Norton Money is a comprehensive financial wellness app that helps you manage your money. It connects your accounts, tracks your spending, monitors your credit score, and provides personalized financial offers. Norton Money combines protection with financial insights to help you manage, improve, and grow your finances.

Why can't I add my bank account?

Currently, we only support US bank accounts. While our bank connection provider, Plaid, supports the most common banks, there might still be some exceptions.

If your bank is not supported or you receive error messages, let us know by filling out the feedback survey.

What is the Credit Score feature in Norton Money?

Once you connect your credit score with Equifax, Norton Money helps you monitor it, so you know if it is trending up or down. You will also get clear insights into what’s affecting your score (credit usage or missed payments) and tips on how to improve it over time.

How can I resolve error messages that occur while setting up my credit score feature?

If you receive an error message while connecting your credit score to Norton Money through Equifax, here are a few things you can try:

  1. Double-check your personal details: Make sure your name, address, and date of birth match what Equifax has on file. Even a small mismatch can cause an issue.
  2. Try again later: Sometimes, Equifax’s systems may be temporarily unavailable. Wait a while and try again later.
  3. Already connected elsewhere: If your score is already linked to another app or support, Equifax may limit simultaneous connections. In that case, try disconnecting from the other app first.

If the solutions above do not resolve the issue, contact us via the in-app feedback button so we can help troubleshoot.

How can I add another bank account?

  • Windows or Mac: Sign in to your Norton account and follow the on-screen instructions to add a new bank account.
  • iOS or Android: After you add your first account during the initial setup, you will see all the accounts you have already connected. Swipe to the right until you see Add a new account.

What does the monthly overview mean?

On your dashboard, we will see a quick status update of your monthly finances:

  1. Spent so far: This will show how much you have spent in the last month across all your connected accounts.
  2. Income: Total money you have received this month, whether it is your salary, transfers, or other income sources. We will show you how it compares to the previous month.
  3. Left to pay: This is how much you still owe for upcoming bills. We will also show you which bills are due soon (like Netflix or Verizon), to avoid any delays.
  4. Savings: This is how much you have managed to save this month. We calculate it based on the difference between your income and spending, and let you know what percentage of your income that is.

How does the Spending feature work?

The Spending feature tracks all expenses across your various accounts. They are categorized and shown in the dashboard overview and in the dedicated Spending category.

How do I change the Spending categories?

The Spending tracker automatically categorizes your transactions and displays your spending patterns.

If you need to update a category, tap Edit on any transaction and choose the category that best suits it

Is Norton Money safe to use?

You can trust Norton Money to protect your financial data with the highest security standards. We safeguard the accounts you connect using state-of-the-art encryption, audits, and continuous monitoring.

Here is how we keep your data safe:

  • Bank-level security: We use trusted technology from Plaid to securely connect to your bank and financial accounts.
  • What we collect (and why): We only collect the data needed to deliver the features you use, such as budgeting tools, credit monitoring, and spending insights.
  • Personal data (name, email, address): We only use your personal data for account setup and communication. It is stored while your account is active or up to 36 months.
  • Location & device data: This data helps us detect fraud, secure your login, and improve your app experience.
  • Financial data (account balances, credit score, and transactions): Financial data is used to track your finances, provide spending insights, and offer smart recommendations. It is stored securely and only as long as needed.
  • We do not keep data forever: Different types of data are deleted after 6 to 36 months, or immediately when no longer needed.

What is Plaid?

Plaid is a secure service that connects your bank and financial accounts to apps like Norton Money.

Why does Norton Money use Plaid?

We use Plaid so you can safely link your checking, savings, credit cards, loans, and investment accounts. It works behind the scenes to retrieve your financial data, like account balances and transactions, without ever storing your login credentials. Your data is encrypted, and Plaid is trusted by thousands of banks and fintech apps worldwide.

Why do I receive the error message 81065 INVALID_COUNTRY_FOR_PRODUCT?

Norton Money is currently only supported in the US. While you might be able to connect accounts from other countries, we do not officially support them.

Why do I receive the error message 2877 LIFELOCK_SINGLETON_ERROR?

If you get this error message, it means that your Norton account also has our LifeLock functionality enabled. Right now, we do not support Norton accounts with LifeLock enabled. You will need to create a free Norton account.
