What is Financial Monitoring?

Financial Monitoring is the feature that allows you to receive alerts notifying you of cash withdrawals, balance transfers, recurring transactions, BNPL (Buy Now Pay Later) and large purchases on financial institution accounts that you connect to your Norton account.

You can also set up and use the Financial Monitoring feature using your Norton 360 app on Windows that scans for any potential issues for your financial accounts, which include:

  • Hidden fees like overdraft or bank charges

  • Suspicious activity, such as fraud or high spending

  • Unexpected bill changes like duplicate charges or price increases

The Financial Monitoring feature available as part of your Norton 360 plan does not provide you with any alerts or notifications for any potential issues detected with your financial accounts.

How do I add a Financial Institution for Transaction Monitoring?

Norton Account

To add your bank to your account:

  1. Sign in to your account.

  2. Click the Financial Monitoring tab then click Add Account.

  3. Search for your financial institution if it is not listed under the most popular ones.

  4. Enter your login credentials to allow access to your financial accounts and follow the on-screen instructions.

Windows

Financial Monitoring is currently available only for select users in the United States.

  1. Open your Norton device security app.

  2. On the main dashboard, under the Financial Monitoring tile, click Set Up.

  3. Click Set up Financial Monitoring > Link your account, then follow the on-screen instructions to complete linking your account.

  4. After completing the linking process, click Continue to scan to initiate the Financial scan.

  5. Wait for the scan to complete, if there are items that require attention, click Review all to review the risks and take appropriate action, then click Done.

The types of financial accounts we support are:

  • Checking and Savings accounts

  • Mortgage

  • Credit cards

  • Investments

How do I dispute a transaction?

If the transaction was not completed by you, contact your financial institution. You will need to check immediately as some financial institutions have a limit on the number of days you have to dispute transactions. If the bank holds you responsible, call us and we will investigate.

How frequently do I receive transaction alerts (Norton Account only)?

The Financial Monitoring feature available as part of your Norton 360 plan does not provide you with any alerts or notifications for any potential issues detected with your financial accounts.

  • Frequently changing finance accounts (bank, card, investments) are refreshed daily.
  • Low-frequency finance accounts (loan, mortgage, insurance, bills) and non-finance accounts are refreshed weekly.

What are the types of transaction alerts (Norton Account only)?

The Financial Monitoring feature available as part of your Norton 360 plan does not provide you with any alerts or notifications for any potential issues detected with your financial accounts.

We alert you on various transactions - Recurring Debits, Withdrawals, BNPL (Buy Now Pay Later), and Fund Transfers.

You will receive alerts that are only debited from your bank accounts. Credits received or payments made to your credit cards will not show up as an alert.
