With Notification Optimization, you can configure how you want to manage your Norton product alerts and notifications.
Your Norton product displays the following categories of alerts and notifications:
Critical: These alerts and notifications require your immediate action to help keep your device protected.
Warning: These alerts and notifications require your attention but do not need immediate action. Norton notifies you but does not block your current activity on your computer.
All Alerts: In addition to displaying critical and warning alerts, this category displays informational alerts and notifications that do not need your intervention.
Notification Optimization uses Silent Mode settings to help prevent Norton product alerts, notifications, or background activities interrupting you.
Open your Norton device security product.
In the My Norton window, in the center pane, click the settings icon > Notifications.
In the Notifications settings window, turn on Silent Mode, and do the following:
To stop alerts and notifications immediately, check Activate Now and specify the duration for you which you want to stop the alerts and notifications from appearing.
After the specified duration, your Norton product starts displaying the product alerts and notifications.
To stop alerts and notifications whenever you use full-screen applications, check When full screen is detected. This option is checked by default. Norton restarts notifications and background tasks automatically when you are finished.
To improve the performance of your disk-burning session, check When burning a disk. This option is checked by default. Product alerts and notifications start appearing after the disk-burning session is complete.
To stop alerts and notifications when running specific programs, check When a specific program is open. This option is checked by default.
You can use the Edit option to add specific programs to the list. After you add a program, your Norton product will not display any notifications when it detects a running instance of the program.
Under Display Preferences, uncheck Special offers if you do not want to receive special offer notifications.
From Alert categories drop-down list, select one of the following:
All Alerts: Select this option if you want your Norton product to display all the alerts and notifications including informational, warning and critical.
Warning: Select this option if you want your Norton product to display warning and critical alerts.
Critical Only: Select this option if you want your Norton product to display only critical alerts.
