Learn more about Sandbox

Applicable for: Windows

The Sandbox feature in your Norton product lets you browse the web or run programs in a completely isolated, safe environment. This feature is useful when you want to run suspicious or untrusted programs without worrying about the risk.

Customize the Sandbox settings

  1. Open your Norton device security product.

  2. On the left pane, click Security.

  3. Navigate to Advanced Security > Computer > Sandbox.

  4. In the Sandbox window, click the Settings tab.

  5. Turn on or off the following Sandbox settings:

    • Show Norton Sandbox in Windows context menu: Lets you right-click a program icon and select Run in sandbox or Always run in Norton Sandbox. Disabling this option removes the Sandbox commands from the Windows context menu.

    • Allow all Sandboxed apps to access the internet: Allows programs running in Sandbox to access the Internet. Disabling this option stops programs from accessing the Internet in Sandbox.

    • Allow apps to download files outside the Sandbox: Allows files that you download using a web browser to be saved to your computer outside of the Sandbox environment. When enabled, this option lets you keep the downloaded files after you close the Sandbox environment. Turning off this option results in the downloaded files being automatically deleted when you end the Sandbox session.
