Intrusion Prevention scans the network traffic that enters and exits your computer and compares this information against a set of attack signatures. Attack signatures contain information identifying an attacker's attempt to exploit a known operating system or program vulnerability. Intrusion Prevention helps protect your computer against the most common Internet attacks.
If the information matches an attack signature, Intrusion Prevention automatically discards the packet and breaks the connection with the computer that sent the data. This action helps protect your computer from being affected in any way.
Intrusion Prevention relies on a list of attack signatures to help detect and block suspicious network activity. The Norton product runs LiveUpdate automatically to keep your list of attack signatures current. If you do not want to use Automatic LiveUpdate, you should run LiveUpdate once a week.
By default, Intrusion Prevention is turned on.
Open your Norton device security product.
On the left pane, click Security.
Navigate to Advanced Security > Network > Intrusion Prevention > Settings.
Slide the Intrusion Signatures switch to off or on.
Slide the Remote Access Protection switch to off or on.
If you choose to turn off, select a duration you want the feature to be disabled, and then click Disable.
