Responding to Norton Deepfake Protection alerts

If your Norton device security app detects a synthetic voice in a video or in an audio file, it may include misleading or fraudulent instructions. Avoid acting on what you hear, as the information may be malicious.

To respond to a Norton Deepfake Protection alert:

  • If you are not certain the audio is trustworthy, in the alert, click I understand to avoid acting on it, and close the alert.

  • If you believe that the audio is safe, in the alert, click the Is this accurate? drop-down option, and select the appropriate option, such as Accurate or Not accurate.

The alert is acknowledged and acted upon.

If you want to change the notification settings for Norton Deepfake Protection alerts, click More options (the three dots) at the top, and click Notification settings. The Notifications window allows you to configure how you want to receive alerts and notifications about AI-generated audio in real time.
