Message: "Connection verified by a certificate issuer that is not recognized by Mozilla."

Applicable for: Windows

When you visit a website in Mozilla Firefox, the Site Identity button (the padlock icon) appears in the address bar to the left of the web address. By clicking the padlock icon, you can verify if the website you are viewing is encrypted. In some cases, you may see the message Connection verified by a certificate issuer that is not recognized by Mozilla., even if the website is verified as secured.

In addition, your Firefox settings screen may show the message Your browser is being managed by your organization..

These messages are caused by the Safe Web feature, which is a part of Norton AntiVirus Plus and Norton 360. In order to scan encrypted web content, Norton needs to install its self-signed certificate, which results in these messages appearing in Mozilla Firefox.
