Message: "Your protection cannot be installed on your device or operating system"

You see this message if your device is not compatible to install the protection. The devices on which you can install your protection depend on your plan or the service that you have subscribed for. For example, if you have Norton AntiVirus plan, you cannot install it on your mobile devices. Likewise, if you have Norton Utilities Ultimate, you can install it only on Windows.

If you do not have a compatible device to install your protection, contact Member Services & Support for the next steps and refund options.

Below are the devices and the operating systems on which you cannot install your protection:

  • Windows

    • Windows XP

    • Windows Vista

    • Windows 7 Service Pack 0

    • Windows 10 in S mode version 1709 and earlier

      Norton Utilities Ultimate is not supported on Windows 11/10 in S mode and on Mac.

  • Mac

    • Mac OS X 10.11 and earlier versions (for Norton 360 and Norton VPN)

      We have moved Mac 10.10.x (Yosemite) and Mac 10.11.x (El Capitan) versions of our security software into Maintenance Mode. For more information, read Maintenance Mode for Mac OS X 10.10.x and 10.11.x for Norton device security.

  • Android

    • 9.x and earlier versions
