Allow or block an application that attempts to connect to your Mac

When an application or service tries to connect to your computer over the Internet, Norton notifies you and prompts to allow or block it.

• If the connection request is from a known application or service that you think is safe, you can allow the connection.

• If you are not sure about the source of connection request, in the notification window, click Details to view the connection details. You can then choose to allow or block the connection request.

Allow or block application attempts to connect to your Mac

1. To manage similar connection requests from the same source in future, in the alert window, select one of the following from the drop-down menu:

   • Always ask for this connection

     Prompts you with an alert whenever there is a connection to or from this application. You can allow or block the connection.

   • Always use this action for "<host_name>"

     Allow or block connections to or from this host based on the permission that you provide now.

   • Always use this action for "<application_name>"

     Allow or block all connections to or from the application based on the permission that you provide now.

2. After you select the required option, do one of the following:

   • Allow

     Allows the application to send or receive data from the host.

   • Block

     Blocks the application to send or receive data from the host.

3. Select the Always use this action for all connections to check box to configure the current access settings whenever the application connects to the same host in the future.
