How do I configure my Norton product  for gaming?

We've provided features to suspend alerts and background tasks while you play games or stream. These features make sure that your Norton product has minimal affect on the PC performance.

Silent Mode & Full Screen Detection

Quiet Mode

When you perform important tasks, watch movies, or play games in full-screen mode, you can configure your Norton product to stop sending alert messages and suspend background tasks that slow performance. Full Screen Detection helps you turn on Silent Mode automatically when Norton detects a full-screen application.

Configure Norton to suspend alerts and background tasks

  • Open your Norton device security product.

If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.

  • In the Norton product main window, click Settings.

  • In the Settings window, click Administrative Settings.

  • Under Silent Mode Settings, in the Silent Mode row, turn on Silent Mode.

  • Click Apply, then select the amount of time that you want to stop notifications and background tasks.

  • Under Silent Mode Settings, in the Full Screen Detection row, move the switch to On to suppress Norton alerts and background tasks whenever you use full-screen applications.
