Fix problem with Internet Security pillar being grayed out in Norton main window

To fix this problem, add and enable the Norton browser extensions on your web browsers.

Depending on your browser, select one of the following.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Navigate to the Browsing Protection page.

  2. In the Browsing Protection page, under Norton Safe Web, click on Install.

  3. Click Get.

  4. Click Add extension.

    Follow the same steps to install the Norton Password Manager extension.

Google Chrome

  1. Navigate to the Browsing Protection page.

  2. In the Browsing Protection page, under Norton Safe Web, click on Install.

  3. In the extensions pop-up that appears, click Add to Chrome and then click Add extension.

  4. To enable all the Norton extensions in Google Chrome, click Add All Norton Extensions and follow the on-screen instructions.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Navigate to the Browsing Protection page.

  2. In the Browsing Protection page, under Norton Safe Web, click Install.

  3. In the extensions pop-up that appears, click Continue to Installation and then click Add.

  4. To enable all the Norton extensions in Mozilla Firefox, click Enable All Norton Extensions and follow the on-screen instructions.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

  1. Navigate to the Browsing Protection page.

  2. In the Browsing Protection page, under Norton Security Toolbar, click Enable.

  3. In the extensions pop-up, click Add Extension.

  4. After enabling Norton Security Toolbar, enable the Norton Safe Search, Norton Home Page, and Norton Password Manager extensions for your browser.

  5. If the Internet Explorer Protection Alert notification appears when you launch Internet Explorer, click Install Now. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the extensions.
