How to transfer Norton to a new device from your service provider

Your Norton subscription comes with a limited number of seats to install Norton on various devices. If you have used up your licenses, you may need to remove a license from an unused device to allow installation on a new device.

Follow the instructions to remove a license so that you can install your Norton product on a new device.

STEP 1

Remove a license that you no longer use

  1. Open your Norton device security product.

  2. Depending on your operating system, do one of the following:

    • For Windows: Click More Norton, select Manage, and then click Manage My Protection.

    • For Mac: Click Add Device, select Get Started > Next > Close the Install on another device Window.

  3. Sign in if you already have a Norton account or service provider's credentials.

    If you do not have a Norton account, click Create account and complete the sign-up process.

    If there are no remaining installs, select Free an install.

  4. In the Devices page, hover over the device that you are no longer using, and in the bottom right corner click the ellipse icon.
  5. Click Delete Device.

  6. In the Remove Device confirmation window, click Remove.

  7. Click Done.

STEP 2

Install Norton on a new device

  1. Open your Norton device security product.

  2. Depending on your operating system, do one of the following:

    • For Windows: Click More Norton, select Add devices, and then click Show Me How.

    • For Mac: Click Add Device, select Get Started and then Next.

  3. Sign in if you already have a Norton account or service provider's credentials.

    If you do not have a Norton account, click Create account and complete the sign-up process.

    If there are no remaining installs, select Free an install and remove a license from the device before proceeding to the Subscriptions tab and selecting Download

  4. Click Install on another device tab.

  5. Enter an email address you can access on your other device and click the send button.

    An email will be sent to the email address with instructions to install the Norton product.

  6. On the device where you want to download Norton, locate and open the email that you received from "The Norton Team".

  7. Click Install Now.

  8. Click Agree & Download.

  9. Save the file on your computer and double-click the file to install your Norton product. By default, the file will be saved in the Downloads folder on both Mac and Windows computers.

    Follow the on-screen instructions.
