Message: "The Norton extension for web browser cannot communicate with the Norton Security application" on Mac

To fix this problem, make sure that you have the latest version of Norton installed on your Mac.

STEP 1

Run LiveUpdate

  1. Start Norton.

    If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.

  2. In the Norton main window, click LiveUpdate.

  3. When the LiveUpdate finishes, exit all programs and restart your Mac.

    If the problem persists, go to Step 2.

Manually remove Norton legacy extensions

  • Depending on your browser, select one of the following:

Enable Norton extensions in your browser

  1. Start Norton.

  2. In the Norton main window, click Settings, and click Safe Web.

  3. Next to your browser name, click the arrow icon to launch the Norton extension page in your browser.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the Norton extensions.
