One of the most important ways to prevent computer security breaches is the use of a strong password. Weak passwords can be guessed, or cracked, within seconds, using the modern computing power available in a simple laptop.
The Password Generator in Norton Password Manager lets you create highly secure passwords that are difficult to crack or guess. Whenever you create a new login, you can use the Password Generator to create strong passwords.
To create a strong password using Password Generator, select one of the following:
Open your browser.
Click Norton Password Manager on the top-right corner of the browser.
Do one of the following:
If you have signed in to your Norton account
In the pop-up screen that appears, click Unlock vault
If you have not signed in to your Norton account
In the pop-up screen that appears, click Sign In and sign in to your account.
In the Unlock your vault window, type your vault password and click Unlock.
Click the Password Manager extension icon and click Open Web App.
A strong password of 20 digits by default is shown on top of the Password Manager window.
Click the Copy or Regenerate icon to copy or regenerate the displayed password and click Close.
You can alter the password by checking one or more of the check boxes that are shown below. You can also change the length of the password by dragging the slide header.
You can also generate a strong password by using the Password Generator available in this website.
Sign in to your Norton Password Manager app.
In the Vault screen, under More Features, tap Password Manager
In the Generate screen, tap Generate.
A strong password is generated and is shown on top of the Password Manager screen.
Click Copy to copy the displayed password.
You can alter the password by checking one or more of the check boxes that are shown below. You can also change the length of the password by dragging the slide header.
You can also create a passphrase to create a strong password. To create a passphrase using Password Generator, follow the steps below:
Open your browser.
Click Norton Password Manager on the top-right corner of the browser.
Do one of the following:
If you have signed in to your Norton account
In the pop-up screen that appears, click Unlock vault
If you have not signed in to your Norton account
In the pop-up screen that appears, click Sign In and sign in to your account.
In the Unlock your vault window, type your vault password and click Unlock.
Click the Password Manager extension icon and click Open Web App.
In the Password Manager window, click Password Generator present on the bottom-left corner of the Web App.
On the top of the screen, click Passphrase.
Click the Copy Passphrase or Regenerate Passphrase icon to copy or regenerate the displayed password and click Close.
You can alter the password by checking one or more of the check boxes that are shown below. You can also change the length of the password by dragging the slide header.
