Protect your mobile device from connecting to suspicious Wi-Fi networks

When you use an unsecured wireless connection, you may be vulnerable to cybercriminals' attacks seeking to monitor and steal your personal information. In some cases, cybercriminals can set up malicious Wi-Fi connections to steal your personal information.

Make sure that you have turned on the Secure VPN feature on your device to automatically scan and alert you if you are connected to a suspicious Wi-Fi network. For more information, read Set up VPN in Norton 360 app to help secure your browsing on Wi-Fi connections on your mobile device

Secure VPN feature is available only for users subscribed to Norton 360 for Mobile or Norton 360 plans that include Secure VPN. This feature is not available in all countries.

I have an Android device

You can turn on the Suspicious Network Alerts feature to allow the Norton 360 app to alert you if you try to connect your device to a suspicious Wi-Fi network.

Turn on Suspicious Network Alerts

  1. From the home screen, launch the Norton 360 app.

  2. At the bottom of the main screen, tap Account, and then tap Settings.

  3. Tap Security.
  4. Under the Wi-Fi Security section, next to Suspicious Network Alerts, move the slider to turn it on.

I have an iOS device

You can turn on the Annotate Wi-Fi Networks feature to allow the Norton 360 app to annotate the suspicious Wi-Fi networks.

Turn on Annotate Wi-Fi Networks

  1. From the home screen, launch the Norton 360 app.

  2. At the bottom of the main screen, tap Menu, and then tap Wi-Fi Security.

  3. In the Wi-Fi Security screen, next to Annotate Wi-Fi Networks, move the slider to turn it on to annotate the suspicious Wi-Fi networks in the iOS Wi-Fi settings screen as "Identified by Norton 360 as Suspicious".
