This document provides more information about removing the Trojan.Poweliks threat from your computer.
You must have administrative rights to run this tool on your computer.
If you have Microsoft Internet Explorer as your default browser, you need to enable the Internet Explorer security settings to download the fix tool. If you use any other browser, skip to Step 2.
Open Microsoft Internet Explorer.
On the top-right corner, clickicon and select .
In the Internet Options window, on the Security tab, click .
In the Security Settings window, scroll down to .
Under File Download, select and click .
Restart Internet Explorer.
Close all currently open applications.
If you have Windows XP, turn off System Restore function.
Depending on your Windows operating system, do one of the following:
Save the file to your Windows desktop.
Double-click the file to run the removal tool.
Read the license agreement window, click.
After the scan is complete, click.
Restart the computer.
Download and run the Norton Power Eraser tool, to remove any unwanted applications that Trojan.Poweliks might have installed on your computer.
Download Norton Power Eraser.
Select the location as Desktop, and then click.
To run Norton Power Eraser, double click thefile.
If the User Account Control window prompts, click or .
Read the license agreement, and click.
In the Norton Power Eraser window, click the icon.
When Norton Power Eraser completes the scan, the results are displayed in the Unwanted Apps Scan Complete window.
In the Unwanted Apps Scan Complete window, next to the unwanted application or toolbar, click .
Follow the on-screen instructions.
When the uninstall completes, restart the computer.
Exit all the programs.

The current user's Temp folder opens in Windows Explorer.
