Configure Automatic Cleaning with Norton Utilities Ultimate

Applicable for: Windows

Automatic Cleaning runs silently in the background with no actions required from you and frees up space on your PC by removing unwanted items, such as broken shortcuts and registry items, system junk, and browser data.

There is no specific time for Automatic Cleaning. Norton Utilities Ultimate performs Automatic Cleaning when it detects your computer is idle.

Enable Automatic Cleaning

  1. Open Norton Utilities Ultimate.

  2. On the main menu, click Settings.

  3. In the Settings window, click Auto-Clean.

  4. Under Automatic Cleaning, click the slider to turn it on (green).

  5. Under How often should we clean automatically, select a frequency from the drop-down list.

  6. Under What should we clean during Automatic Cleaning, select the items you want to clean.

You can use the drop-down arrow next to each item to narrow down to the exact items that are included in the Automatic Cleaning.

If you are unsure, use the Reset to recommended option to choose the default settings. The items that your Norton product checks by default are safe to clean without losing crucial data.
