The Kill Switch feature in Norton VPN blocks or kills your Internet connection if the VPN connection drops. This helps maintain the privacy of your IP address (key to identifying your location and online activities) and other personal information if the VPN connection drops.
To unblock your Internet connection, reconnect your VPN connection or turn off Kill Switch.
To enable Kill Switch on your device, depending on your operating system, choose one of the following:
Depending on your product, choose one of the following:
Open Norton VPN on your desktop.
On the Norton dashboard, do one of the following, depending on your VPN plan:
Norton VPN Standard: Click VPN Preferences tab. In the VPN Preferences tab, move the slider to enable Use Kill Switch if VPN disconnects.
Norton VPN Plus/Ultimate: Click Settings. In the Settings window, move the slider to enable Use Kill Switch if VPN disconnects.
Open Norton 360.
On the Norton home page, click Privacy on the left-side of the page.
On the Privacy window, under Secure VPN, click Open.
On the Secure VPN window, click the Settings tab.
On the Settings window, move the slider to enable Use Kill Switch if VPN disconnects.
Open Norton VPN on your desktop.
On the Norton dashboard, do one of the following, depending on your VPN plan:
Norton VPN Standard: Click VPN Preferences tab. In the VPN Preferences tab, move the slider to enable Stops all internet traffic (Kill Switch).
Norton VPN Plus/Ultimate: Click Settings. In the Settings window, move the slider to enable Stops all internet traffic (Kill Switch).
Depending on your product, choose one of the following:
Launch Norton VPN.
Tap the Settings icon on the top-right corner of the screen.
In the VPN Preferences screen, move the slider to enable Kill Switch.
Launch Norton 360.
At the bottom of the main screen, tap Menu and then tap VPN.
In the VPN screen, tap the Settings icon at the top-right corner of the screen.
In the VPN screen, next to Kill Switch, move the slider to enable the feature.
Launch Norton VPN.
Tap Settings on the top-right corner of the screen.
In the VPN Preferences screen, tap Advanced Settings.
In the Advanced Settings screen, move the slider to enable Kill Switch.
Kill Switch functions only on the Mimic protocol.
