Applicable for: Mac
Smart Firewall creates application rules each time an application or process starts for the first time. These rules determine how Smart Firewall behaves toward each application or process when it connects to the internet or to another network. Advanced users can set connection allowances for each individual app to determine how strictly Smart Firewall monitors any incoming or outgoing communication.
We recommend you only modify your application rules if absolutely necessary. In most cases, Firewall formulates optimal rules without your input.
Open your Norton device security product.
On the left pane, click Security.
In the Security dashboard, click Smart Firewall.
Click the Settings tab, next to Traffic Rules, click Manage.
The Application rules tab lists all your current application rules. Click the down arrow next to an application, and you can do the following:
Click the Edit icon (the pencil icon) in the panel for the relevant rule. Edit the relevant parameters, then click Save to confirm.
To create a new rule for the selected application, hover your cursor over the selected application file, and then click (the three dots icon). Click New rule, enter the relevant parameters, then click Create to confirm.
To create a new rule for a new application, in the Application rules tab, click New rule. Enter the relevant parameters and click Select to locate the new application installed on your Mac, then click Create to confirm.
