Update your protection to the latest version

Updating to the latest version can address many problems that are experienced by older versions and provide you with:

• Industry-leading security that won't slow you down
• Defends your PC and identity from new types of Internet threats
• Delivers up-to-the-minute virus protection

By default, your Norton product is updated automatically provided that your device is turned on and connected to the internet.

Product updates and Protection updates

A product update is different from protection updates (delivered through LiveUpdate).
The main differences are:

• Product update lets you download and install a new version of the entire product.
• Protection updates are the files that keep your Norton product up to date with the latest antithreat technology.

Update your Norton protection

You can update Norton to the latest version without any cost if you have an active subscription. In most cases, this is not required as your Norton product is updated automatically with the latest version.

Windows: LiveUpdate ensures you always have the latest program updates installed. However, you can go to Norton Update Center and check if a latest version is available.

Android and iOS: If you are on a mobile device, you have to check for updates for the app from the Play Store or App Store. For detailed steps, read Update the Norton 360 mobile app to the latest version.

Mac: You can only upgrade if a new version of Norton device security is available. However, you can run LiveUpdate anytime to get the latest threat definitions and minor application enhancements. For detailed instructions, read Upgrade to the latest Norton version to better protect your Mac.

Update from Norton Update Center

You can also update your product by following the below steps:

Applicable for Windows, Android, and iOS.

1. Go to Norton Update Center.
2. Click Update Me Now.
   If the download does not start automatically, download the program manually.
3. On the File Download - Security Warning window, click Run.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Tips and Best practices

• If you use an older version of a Norton product, we recommend that you upgrade to the latest version.
• If you are trying to download the protection from your service provider, go back to your service provider's website, and follow their instructions to get the latest version of the product.
• When you update your product to the latest version, your subscription status remains the same. For example, if you have 200 days of subscription left with your current version of Norton product and you update to the latest version, your subscription remains 200 days after the upgrade.
