I have Windows

To check if the issue you are experiencing is related to a known system problem or outage, visit Norton Services Status page.
This error may occur if there is a problem when you activate Norton. To resolve this problem, run LiveUpdate.

Run LiveUpdate

  1. Open your Norton device security product.

  2. In the notification area, right-click on the Norton icon, and then click Run LiveUpdate.

  3. When Norton LiveUpdate is finished, click OK.

  4. Run LiveUpdate until you see the message, "Your Norton product has the latest protection updates."

  5. Exit all programs, and restart the computer.

Your Norton product is activated successfully. If the problem persists, verify the region settings.

Verify the Region settings

  1. Click on Start and open Settings from the menu. You can also use the keyboard shortcut Windows key + I.
  2. In the Windows Settings page, click Time & Language​​​​​​.
  3. On the left pane, click Region.
  4. In the Regions window, select your current location under Regional format from the drop-down list.
  5. Restart the computer and activate the product.

I have macOS

STEP 1

Remove license for your Mac

  1. Sign in to your account.

  2. In the top-right corner of the page, hover over the account icon or photo and click My Subscriptions.

  3. On the My Account page, on the My Subscriptions tab, select the product you want to manage.

  4. Under the product, click Manage Licenses.

  5. In the pop-up window, choose the device you no longer use, and then under Remove License, click the bin icon.

  6. Click Remove to confirm.

STEP 2

Activate Norton

  1. Open your Norton device security product.

  2. In the Norton main window, click Activate Now.

  3. In the Subscription window, enter your Norton account credentials, and click Sign In.

    If you do not have a Norton account, click Create a new Norton account to register for an account.

  4. The list of product licenses registered to your Norton account and the subscription details for the registered licenses will be displayed. To use an existing subscription to activate your product, select the subscription, and then click Next.

    If you have a new product key, select Use a product key and then click Enter a Key.

  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the activation.

    If the problem persists, repeat Step 1, and then Remove all Norton programs for Mac using the RemoveNortonMacFiles tool. You can then reinstall and activate your Norton product.
