Norton Crypto helps you easily and safely mine Ethereum cryptocurrency using Norton 360 device security for Windows. You can now turn the idle time of your Windows computer into an opportunity to earn digital currency in a secured way.

You can track and transfer your cryptocurrency earnings using the Norton Crypto Wallet, a secure digital wallet in the cloud that Norton creates for you. You can transfer your cryptocurrency earnings from your Norton Crypto Wallet to your Coinbase account.

Your Windows device must meet the following minimum requirements for this feature to work:

Operating Systems

  • Microsoft Windows 11/10/8 (64-bit)

    Norton Crypto is not supported on Windows 7, Windows 10 in S mode, and Windows running on ARM processors.

Hardware

  • Graphics card - Nvidia/AMD cards with minimum 6 GB memory

  • Processor - 1 GHz

  • RAM - 2 GB (minimum of 512 MB RAM required for Recovery Tool)

  • Hard disk space - 300 MB of available hard disk space

Norton Crypto is not yet available in all countries.

By default, Norton Crypto is turned off. You need to manually turn it on. Follow the below instructions to turn on Norton Crypto and start mining.

Turn on Norton Crypto

  1. Open your Norton device security product.

  2. In the My Norton window, under Turn your PC's idle time to cash, click Show me how.

  3. In the screen that appears, read the License and Services Agreement, and then click Agree & Get Started.

    The Norton Crypto dashboard appears with your Norton product ready to start mining during idle time.

    You can view the following information in the dashboard:

    • Current mining status: Active or Paused

    • Total earnings currently accumulated in your wallet

    • Your GPU model name

Transfer your cryptocurrency earnings

You may transfer the Ethereum cryptocurrency from your Norton Crypto Wallet to an account you may have at Coinbase. Coinbase is a cryptocurrency exchange platform that lets you buy and sell cryptocurrency.
Follow the below instructions to transfer your cryptocurrency to Coinbase:
  1. Open your Norton device security product.

  2. In the My Norton window, under Turn your PC's idle time to cash, click Show me how.

  3. In the Norton Crypto dashboard, click Norton Wallet.

  4. Sign in to your account if prompted for authentication.

  5. In the Wallet tab, select ETH from the drop-down menu, and then click Withdraw.

    The Withdraw option appears disabled if you have not set up two-factor authentication for your Norton account. To learn more about two-factor authentication, see FAQ: Two-factor authentication for your account.

    If you are setting up two-factor authentication for the first time, the Withdraw option gets enabled after 24 hours.

  6. Sign in to your Coinbase account and follow the on-screen instructions.

Pause or turn off Norton Crypto

You can temporarily turn off Norton Crypto for a specified duration or turn it off. You can pause your current mining session for 1, 4, 8, or 24 hours. You can also pause the mining until the next restart of your computer. After the specific duration completes, your Norton product resumes mining.

If you want to stop mining completely, you must turn off Norton Crypto from the Norton Crypto dashboard. In this case, you must manually turn on Norton Crypto to continue mining.

Pause Norton Crypto Miner at any given point

  1. In the notification area of your Windows taskbar, right-click the Norton product icon and click Pause Crypto Miner.

  2. In the Pause Crypto Miner window, select a duration from the drop-down list and click Pause.

Turn off Norton Crypto Miner

  1. Open your Norton device security product.

  2. In the My Norton window, under Turn your PC's idle time to cash, click Show me how.

  3. In the Norton Crypto dashboard, click the pause icon.

  4. In the list that appears, click Turn off miner.

Hide the Norton Crypto banner in the My Norton window

Follow the instructions below if you do not want to see the Norton Crypto banner in the My Norton window.

You can hide the Crypto banner only if you have not enrolled for Norton Crypto. If you have already enrolled for Norton Crypto, you cannot hide the banner. In this case, you use the Norton Crypto banner to view the mining status and to access your mining dashboard.

  1. Open your Norton device security product.
  2. In the My Norton window, in the center pane, click the settings icon > Norton Crypto.
  3. In the Norton Crypto settings window, turn off the Hide Crypto on my Norton dashboard switch.
