Norton Secure VPN for mobile devices

Need for Norton Secure VPN

When you use an unsecured wireless connection, your Internet service provider (ISP) and websites can see sensitive details like your location, chats, and emails. You are vulnerable to cyber criminals who seek to monitor and steal your information. Norton Secure VPN creates a Virtual Private Network (VPN) that encrypts your sensitive data. It lets you use a public network, like the Internet, in a secure way.

Turn Norton Secure VPN off or on

Tap Turn On VPN to turn on Norton Secure VPN. When VPN is turned on, a circular map shows your virtual location. Tap Turn Off VPN to turn off Norton Secure VPN.

Turning off VPN exposes your IP address and location and makes your connection unsafe.

Change your geographic region in Norton Secure VPN

By default, Norton Secure VPN automatically picks the optimal regional data center based on your location. You can manually change the selected region from the location settings.

Change your region on Android or iOS

  1. Open Norton Secure VPN.

  2. Tap the location icon at the bottom of the screen.

  3. In the Regions screen, select the geographic region you want from the list.

Enable or disable Auto-Protect on Android or iOS

Wi-Fi Security in Norton Secure VPN scans the wireless network that your device is connected to in order to detect common network threats such as man-in-the-middle attacks.

Enable or disable Wi-Fi Security

  1. Open Norton Secure VPN.

  2. Tap the Wi-Fi Settings icon at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Slide the Auto-Protect switch to turn on your VPN when you connect to an unsecure or compromised network.

Enable or disable Warnings on Android or iOS

Norton Secure VPN notifies you with a warning every time you connect to an unsecure network. However, if you don't want to receive notifications, you can disable the warnings using Network Protection.

Enable or disable warnings

  1. Open Norton Secure VPN.

  2. Tap the Wi-Fi Settings icon at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Slide the Enable Warnings switch to enable or disable Enable Warnings.

Enable Warnings switch is grayed out when you are connected to a secure network.

Block Ad Trackers on Android or iOS

Each mobile device has a unique advertising ID which may be used to track your details like name, address, and age. Advertising IDs may be used by app developers to create targeted advertisements that are relevant to you. The Ad Tracking feature in Norton Secure VPN protects you and blocks targeted advertisements.

Enable or disable Block Ad Trackers on Android or iOS

  1. Open Norton Secure VPN.

  2. Tap the Ad Tracker icon at the bottom of the screen.

  3. In the Ad Tracker screen, slide Block Ad Trackers to enable or disable Ad Trackers.

Ad Tracker blocking works only when Virtual Private Network is turned on.

Enable Split Tunnel on Android

The Split Tunnel feature in Norton Secure VPN lets you securely direct and encrypt your choice of apps by selecting the traffic you wish to exclude from Secure VPN.

Enable Split Tunnel on Android

  1. Open Secure VPN.

  2. Tap the menu icon on the top left of the screen and tap Settings.
  3. In the Settings screen, move the slider to enable Split Tunneling.

  4. To exclude an app, tap Exclude Apps under Split Tunneling.

  5. In the Exclude Apps screen, click to select the apps that you want to exclude from Secure VPN traffic.

Turn off VPN and turn it on again to apply the changes made for Split Tunneling.

Uninstall Norton Secure VPN
