Error: "8507,125" appears on my Norton product

This error occurs if you have installed a non-Symantec security product on your computer. Your Norton product provides the best protection for your computer and we recommend that you uninstall the non-Symantec security product.

STEP 1

Uninstall any non-Symantec security product

    You can also read the program documentation or contact the program manufacturer for instructions on how to remove a non-Symantec security product from your computer.

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

    appwiz.cpl

  3. In the list of installed programs, select the non-Symantec security product, and then click Uninstall or Remove.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

  5. When the uninstall completes, restart the computer.

    If the problem persists, go to Step 2.

STEP 2

Download and run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool

    If you have received your Norton product from your service provider, skip this step, and run the Norton Removal Tool.

  1. Download the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.

    Save the file to the Windows desktop.

  2. On the Windows desktop, double-click the NRnR icon.

  3. Read the license agreement, and click Agree.

  4. Click Remove & Reinstall, and follow the on-screen instructions.

  5. Click Restart Now.

    After the computer restarts, follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall your Norton product.
