Error: "2819 - No DNS Found: DNS server not found/failed" when backing up or restoring the files using Norton Online Backup or Norton 360

You see this error when your backup or restore session fails to complete due to an Internet connectivity issue. To fix this problem, try the steps in this article.

Check the Internet connectivity

  1. Restart the computer.

  2. Start your web browser.

  3. Verify the Internet connectivity by accessing a website.

  4. If you can access a webpage, check the firewall settings of your computer to see if the access to Norton Online Backup or Symantec's website is blocked

    If you want to check the status of application blocking by Norton Firewall, go to Step 2.

Verify the Norton Firewall settings

  1. Start Norton.

  2. In the Norton window, click Settings.

  3. In the Settings window, under Detailed Settings, click Firewall.

  4. On the Program Control tab, under the list of rules for individual programs, scroll down and select Norton Online Backup Service.

  5. Under the type of Access granted, if the setting shows Block, change the access to Allow.

  6. Click Apply, and click Close.

To check if the issue is resolved, run a backup in Norton.
