Error: "3047,58" or "3047,4000" and blue screen appears after I run LiveUpdate in my Norton product

STEP 1

Start the computer in safe mode

  1. Exit all the programs.

  2. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

  3. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

    msconfig

    If the User Account Control window appears, click Yes or Continue.

  4. In the System Configuration Utility window, on the Boot tab, check Safe boot.

    For Windows XP: In the System Configuration Utility window, on the BOOT.INI tab, check /SAFEBOOT.

  5. Click OK.

  6. When you are asked to restart the computer, click Restart.

    The computer restarts in the Safe mode which takes several minutes.

STEP 2

Uninstall the SMR drivers

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

    devmgmt.msc

    If the User Account Control window appears, click Yes or Continue.

  3. In the Device Manager window, on the View menu, select Show hidden devices.

  4. In the Device Manager window, click to expand Non-Plug and Play Drivers.

  5. Under Non-Plug and Play Drivers, right-click the following drivers and then click Uninstall.

    • SMR210

    • SMR250

    • SMR300

    • SMR310

    • SMR311

  6. Exit the Device Manager.

STEP 3

Delete the SMR driver files

  1. Start Windows Explorer.

  2. Navigate to the following folder:

    C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\

  3. Select the following files, and press Delete.

    • SMR210.sys

    • SMR250.sys

    • SMR300.sys

    • SMR310.sys

    • SMR311.sys

STEP 4

Start the computer in normal mode

  1. Exit all the programs.

  2. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

  3. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

    msconfig

    If the User Account Control window appears, click Yes or Continue.

  4. In the System Configuration Utility window, on the Boot tab, uncheck Safe boot.

    For Windows XP: In the System Configuration Utility window, on the BOOT.INI tab, uncheck /SAFEBOOT.

  5. Click OK.

  6. When you are asked to restart the computer, click Restart.

    The computer restarts in the normal mode which takes several minutes.
