How do I configure File Recovery settings?

You can use the UnErase Settings window to configure the file recovery settings of Norton Utilities.

To configure File Recovery settings

  1. In the Norton Utilities main window, select the Settings tab.

  2. In the Settings window, select UnErase from the left panel.

  3. Under UnErase Settings, configure the file recovery settings.

    Your options are:

    • Show warning if recovering files to the same drive scanned: If you select this check box a warning message appears if you recover files to the same drive scanned.

We recommend that you recover files to a separate drive or partition to prevent recovered files from writing into the unused space from which Norton Utilities is recovering the files.

    • Show recovery folder after files recovered: Select this check box to open the recovery folder automatically after recovery is complete.

    • Keep directory structure: Select this check box to recover the entire directory structure. For example if the file was found in C:\Program file\Utilities\test.exe, Norton Utilities creates the exact directory tree in the Recovered files directory.

    • Save recovered files to: Click Browse to specify where you want to be located once they are recovered.

  4. Click Save to apply your changes.
