How do I configure Privacy settings?

You can use the Privacy Scan and Clean Settings window to configure the privacy settings of Norton Utilities.

To configure Privacy settings

  1. In the Norton Utilities main window, select the Settings tab.

  2. In the Settings window, select Privacy from the left panel.

  3. Under Privacy Scan and Clean Settings, select the required option.

    Your options are:

    • Clean all Internet Explorer tracks as part of Privacy cleaning: Select this check box to allow Norton Utilities to clear Internet Explorer tracks for all users as opposed to the current, logged in user account. Selecting this option allows global cleaning of the following Internet Explorer tracks: History, Cookies, and the Temporary Internet Files folder.

    • Hide 'low disk space' warning messages (requires reboot): Select this check box to suppress the automatic warning message regarding low hard disk space, which Windows may display towards the end of the bleaching process on a given drive or partition. This message may display as the bleaching process fills up free space on a selected drive or partition with garbage data before you delete it.

    • Check for open Internet browsers during Privacy clean: Select this check box to enable Norton Utilities to prompt to close any internet browsers that are open on your computer when you choose to clean your computer.

    • Show warning message during Disk Bleaching: Select this check box to enable Norton Utilities to show a warning message during the bleaching process.

    • Log Clean Results: Select this check box to allow the Norton Utilities to create a log for recording of clean results after privacy scanning and cleaning.

    • Restart Windows Explorer after Privacy clean: Select this check box to restart the Windows explorer after Norton Utilities completes the Privacy Scan.

    • View Log Files: Click this link to open the Norton Utilities log file directory. The files in this directory are used for support purposes only and should not be edited.

  4. Click Save to apply your changes.
