How do I optimize Windows?

The Windows Optimization feature presents you with different profile options with pre-configured settings. You can choose the profile that best suits your needs by moving the slider to the profile of your choice.

To optimize windows

  1. In the Norton Utilities main window, select the Performance tab.

  2. In the Performance Home window, under Select your action, click Optimize Windows.

  3. In the Optimize Windows window, by default, the Performance Profiles feature is disabled and this screen appears grayed out. Move the On/Off switch to the right to the On position to enable the Performance Profiles feature. The icon turns to green color if this feature is enabled.

  4. Select a profile by using the slider. The performance slider bar displays three settings:

    • Best Appearance: Drag the slide bar to this profile if you want to optimize Windows for Best Appearance.

    • Balanced: Drag the slide bar to this profile setting (the default setting), the Balanced profile has pre-configured settings which provide you with the optimal balance between appearance and performance.

    • Best Performance: Drag the slide bar to this profile if you want to optimize Windows for Best Performance.

The Best Performance setting alters your Windows visual settings.

After you select a profile, the list of pre-configured settings for this profile appears below and are enabled automatically.

  5. Click Apply to apply your changes when you first turn on the profile and for subsequent profile changes.

Turning off the performance profile disengages all optimizations.
