Fix incorrect Windows Action Center reports about Norton

Under certain rare conditions, Microsoft Windows shows a reporting anomaly when Norton is installed. This anomaly which possibly affects other security products too, blocks the ability of security products to correctly report their status to the Windows Security Center.

Our extensive tests and observations reveal that Norton continues to work at full strength, and reports their status correctly in the main Norton window but the Windows Security Center shows conflicting information.

To fix this problem, run Norton LiveUpdate.

These steps are for the current version of Norton. If you have an older version or if you do not know your product version, go to Norton Update Center.

Run LiveUpdate

  1. Start Norton.

    If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.

  2. In the main window, double-click Security, and then click LiveUpdate.

  3. When Norton LiveUpdate is finished, click OK.

  4. Run LiveUpdate until you see the message, "Your Norton product has the latest protection updates."

  5. Exit all the programs, and restart the computer.
