Error: "Error starting Norton QuickMenu..." at system startup after I install Norton AntiVirus 12 for Mac

To fix this problem, uninstall and reinstall your Norton product.

STEP 1

Uninstall Norton AntiVirus for Mac

  1. In the Applications folder, open the Symantec Solutions folder, and then double-click Symantec Uninstaller.

  2. In the Uninstall Symantec Products window, check Norton AntiVirus Application, and then click Uninstall.

  3. In the Confirm window, click Uninstall.

  4. In the uninstaller window that displays the list of deleted items, click Close.

  5. Click Restart.

STEP 2

Reinstall Norton AntiVirus for Mac

  1. Do one of the following:

    • If you install from a CD, insert the Norton AntiVirus for Mac CD into the optical disk drive.

      If the CD window does not open automatically, double-click the CD icon on the desktop to open it.

    • If you downloaded your copy of Norton AntiVirus, double-click the file that you downloaded.

  2. Double-click Norton AntiVirus Installer.

  3. In the Welcome screen window, click Continue.

  4. Read the license agreement, and then click Continue.

  5. In the License Agreement dialog box that appears, click Agree.

  6. In the Select a Destination window, select your Mac OS X startup disk, and then click Continue.

  7. Click Install.

  8. When you see a prompt, type your Administrator account name and password, and then click Install Software.

    The file copy process starts.

  9. If you see a message that the installation requires a restart of your computer, click Continue Installation.

    Your computer restarts and you are prompted to activate your Norton product.

  10. In the Activation window, type your product key and then click Continue.

  11. When the LiveUpdate is complete, click Continue.

  12. In the Installation Successful window, click Restart.

    You must restart your computer to complete the installation process.
