Norton from Symantec

I want to download my Norton product which is not registered to my account

Your product may not be registered to your account if:

  • You install it for the first time after you purchase from a retail store or third-party website.

  • Your product came preinstalled on your computer and was not registered during the installation.

To install a product that is not registered, you need your Norton product key. If you already have your product key, skip to Step 2.


Find your Norton product key

  1. The location of your product key or activation key depends on how you obtained the product.

    • If you purchased a download from Norton Online Store or from a third-party website, the product key is in your confirmation email. If you cannot locate the confirmation email in your inbox, check your spam filter folder.

    • If you purchased a boxed product CD online or at a local retail store, your product key is inside the box either on a sticker on the back of the CD sleeve or DVD case, or printed on a card in the box.

    • If your product came preinstalled on your computer, your product key can be found with your computer on a sticker on the back of a CD sleeve, or on a printed card.

    • If you have upgraded to Windows 8 from Windows XP or Windows Vista, you can find your product key in a text file at the following location:

      C:\Windows.old\Program Data\Norton\00000082\{subdir}\key.txt or revkey.txt

  2. Write down the product key, and go to Step 2.


Download your Norton product

  1. Select the Norton product that you want to download.

    The Netbook editions of the Norton products are no longer available. You can download the subsequent standard edition of your Norton product and use your Netbook edition product key to activate it.

  2. Follow the instructions from the download page, or double-click the installer file after it is downloaded and follow the on-screen instructions.

  3. If you are asked for, enter your Norton product key.
