Error when you run LiveUpdate

These steps are for the current version of Norton. If you have an older version or if you do not know your product version, go to Norton Update Center.

STEP 1

Run LiveUpdate after 24 hours

  • There is an intermittent problem with the LiveUpdate servers currently. You can be assured that this problem is fixed quickly. Wait for 24 hours and then run LiveUpdate again.

You may notice this error when you run LiveUpdate manually. LiveUpdate downloads these updates automatically, and often by the time you manually run LiveUpdate again, the updates will be installed successfully.

If the virus definitions of your Norton product are out of date, you can use Intelligent Updater to update it.

STEP 2

Check your Virus Definitions date

  1. Start Norton.

  2. In the main window, Under You Are Protected, check for the date next to Protection Updates.

  3. Depending on your situation, do one of the following:

    • If the time is less than one day, then wait for 24 hours and then run LiveUpdate again.

    • If the time is more than one day, go to Step 3 to update your virus definitions using Intelligent Updater.

STEP 3

Update your virus definitions using Intelligent Updater

  1. Go to the Intelligent Updater downloads page.

  2. To choose the correct definition set, you need to know the name and version of Norton and the version of Windows.

  3. Depending on your version of Windows and Norton, download the appropriate definition set.
