Error: "Backup failed (W32)" when backing up the files using Norton Online Backup

To fix this problem, uninstall and reinstall the Norton Online Backup.

STEP 1

Uninstall Norton Online Backup

  1. Press the Windows + R to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

    appwiz.cpl

  3. In the list of currently installed programs, click Norton Online Backup, and then click Remove or Uninstall.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the product.

STEP 2

Reinstall Norton Online Backup

  1. Sign in to the Norton Online Backup website using the email address and password.

  2. Click Add a Computer.

  3. Check I have read and agree with the Terms of Service, and then click Download for Windows.

    Save the Norton Online Backup client installation file onto your Windows desktop.

  4. On your desktop, double-click the NortonOnlineBackup.exe file.

    If you see a Security Warning, click Run.

  5. Click Install.

    Follow the on-screen instructions.

  6. On the Name Your Computer page, in the Display Name textbox, type a new name. Do not use the name that you used previously.

    Providing a new Computer name helps you differentiate the previous backup set from the new backup set.

  7. Click OK.
