VeriSign Secure

It is a standard security requirement for e-commerce and online transaction Web sites to have Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate. Web sites that are certified as secured by VeriSign display the VeriSign Secured Seal. When you click the VeriSign Secured Seal, you can view a VeriSign-generated verification page containing information about URL details, organization, the status of subscription, and SSL certificate details.

You can view the VeriSign SSL certificate for this Web site here:

Secure connections use certificates to identify a Web site and to encrypt your connection. The encryption protects the connection from hackers and fraudsters. If a Web site needs to collect sensitive information or conduct online transactions, an SSL certificate is a mandatory requirement.

To verify if you have a secure connection to a Web site, you can do the following:

  • Check if the Web site address begins with HTTPS

  • Check if there is a lock icon on your Web browser's address bar

  • View the SSL certificate of the Web site

  • Check for VeriSign Secured seal displayed in the Web page

If the certificate shows only the address of the Web site address, ensure that it is the address that you wanted to visit. Phishing and fraudulent Web sites often use similar Web site names to trick unaware users into believing that they are visiting trusted sites.

When you click the lock icon on your address bar and select View Certificates, you can view the following details of the SSL certificate:
