This problem can happen due to conflict with a non-Symantec security product installed on the computer. To fix the problem, remove the non-Symantec security product. If the problem persists or if you do not have a non-Symantec security product installed, uninstall and reinstall Norton.
Press the
+ keys to open the Run dialog box.Type in the following text, and then press
.appwiz.cpl
In the list of currently installed programs, select the non-Symantec security product, and then click
or .If the User Account Control window appears, click .
Follow the on-screen instructions.
Exit all programs, and restart the computer.
If the problem persists, go to Step 2.
If you have Norton Family installed, uninstall it before you run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.
Download the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.
Save the file to the Windows desktop. On some browsers, the file is automatically saved to its default location.
To open the Downloads window in your browser, press the
+ key.Double-click the
icon.Read the license agreement, and click

.You may see the
button if your Norton product is from your service provider.Click

.After the computer restarts, follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Norton.
