Google Chrome status is shown as Installed under Clean your Disks options in Norton Utilities 15.0 even though it is not installed

This problem can occur due to leftover registry entries of Google Chrome. To fix this problem, delete these leftover registry entries of Google Chrome.


Delete Google Chrome registry keys

    This section has steps to modify Windows Registry. Incorrect changes to the registry can result in permanent data loss or corrupted files. So, back up the registry before you make any changes to it. Modify only the specified registry key. For instructions, read Back up the Windows registry.

  1. Exit all the programs.

  2. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

  3. Type in the following text, and then press Enter:


    If the User Account Control window appears, click Continue or Allow.

  4. Navigate to the following registry key:


  5. Delete the registry entry for Google Chrome.

  6. Exit the Registry Editor.


Delete the Norton Utilities cache

  1. Exit Norton Utilities if it is open.

  2. Start Windows Explorer.

  3. Navigate to the following folder:

    C:\Program Files\Norton Utilities 15\

  4. Delete the Cache.db file.

  5. Exit all the programs and restart your computer.
